Indore, April 9 Authorities in Indore district sealed several commercial establishments on Thursday for alleged violations of fire safety regulations.
The action was taken during a crackdown on non-compliance with fire safety regulations in Madhya Pradesh's commercial capital, an official said.
"Serious lapses were found in fire safety arrangements during inspections carried out as part of the crackdown. The establishments that were sealed include vehicle and furniture showrooms, hotels, coaching institutes, garment shops, cafes, gyms, and libraries," he said.
During inspections, it was found that either fire safety systems were completely absent or the available equipment did not meet prescribed standards.
In some cases, violations related to building usage were also detected, the official added.
