Jammu, March 13 Abhishek Sharma, the star opening batsman of the Indian T20 squad, paid his respects at the Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, just days after the "Men in Blue" won the ICC T20 World Cup at home.
The top-ranked batsman in the ICC T20 rankings, 25-year-old Sharma, posted pictures of his visit on Instagram with the caption: "Jai Mata Di."
In the photographs, Sharma is seen standing on the pilgrimage route with folded hands and a tilak on his forehead, dressed in a traditional white kurta-pyjama.
Several videos showing the Punjab cricketer walking, taking a battery car ride, and interacting with people along the way to the shrine have surfaced on social media.
Sharma, who had a disappointing performance in the matches leading up to the final, delivered a stunning performance against New Zealand in Ahmedabad last Sunday, scoring 52 off 21 balls as India posted a total of 255/5.
India eventually won the match by 96 runs, claiming back-to-back titles and a record third T20 World Cup crown.
