February 28, Srinagar: The 55th Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army organized an inaugural cricket tournament in Lajoora on Friday in honor of Shaheed Pawan Kumar, who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his bravery during Operation Padgampora 2023.
The tournament has been established as a tribute to his sacrifice and courage. Officials said the event aims to inspire young people in the region to emulate his values of dedication, patriotism, and selfless service.
The commanding officer of 55th Rashtriya Rifles formally inaugurated the tournament in the presence of local dignitaries, elders, and youth from the area. In his address, the commanding officer highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of unity among young people.
