Chandigarh, March 15 Punjab Police announced on Sunday that they have arrested six individuals allegedly involved in a cross-border arms and drug smuggling operation with links to Pakistani smugglers.
The Amritsar police also recovered six sophisticated pistols, 60 live cartridges, and 3.51 kg of heroin from the accused, according to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused, who had links with Pakistani smugglers, were facilitating the supply of weapons and narcotics near the Indo-Pak border, DGP Gaurav Yadav wrote in a post on X.
The accused were operating under the direction of a cross-border handler, indicating a larger organized smuggling network, he further stated.
Further investigations are underway to establish the forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network, he added.
