
February 25, Kohima: The three-day North East Spring Festival 2026, also known as the Festival of North East, will begin tomorrow at the NEZCC Complex, Dimapur.
The festival is being organized by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, in collaboration with the South-Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Nagpur, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The festival will be celebrated alongside the Madhya Dakshini Festival 2026, creating a vibrant cultural confluence between the North Eastern and South-Central regions of the country.
The event aims to preserve and promote the rich folk and tribal heritage of North East India, while also providing a national platform for traditional performing artists and fostering cultural exchange with South-Central states to strengthen national integration.
A total of 130 folk artists from the eight North Eastern states will present diverse art forms, with a special focus on engaging youth through folk, tribal, band, and choir performances.
The bands and choirs include Blue Temptation (Shillong), Coronation Choir (Dimapur), Bhramos (Kohima), and 6 Strings (Guwahati). Additionally, 83 artists from five states will perform as part of the Madhya Dakshini Festival 2026, with extended events in Namsai and Ri-Bhoi.
Dr. Prasanna Gogoi, Director, NEZCC Dimapur, said that the Festival promises to be a grand celebration of India's cultural diversity and a platform for strengthening national integration through cultural unity.
Dr. Gogoi stated that through such initiatives, the Ministry of Culture continues to uphold its commitment to preserving and promoting India's rich and diverse cultural heritage.
