Los Angeles, March 31 – Hollywood star Dakota Johnson reminisced about a callback audition and how she was described as "arrogant."
In an interview with Hits Radio, she recalled a callback audition where she greeted everyone in the room, a move that apparently misinterpreted by the decision-makers, according to people.com.
"I walked into the room and shook everyone's hand and introduced myself," said the audition participant (for a project that remains unspecified).
"And then I performed the scene and left. The feedback I received was that because I had introduced myself and shook everyone's hand, I was perceived as arrogant, that I was being overly friendly and self-important."
Johnson said she was puzzled by the feedback. "I was like, 'What? I didn't get the job because they said I was being cocky.' "
Her take on the "pretty crazy" situation? "I was just being polite."
Johnson appeared on Hits Radio to promote the UK release of her new movie, Splitsville, which was released in the US in September, according to people.com.
Splitsville, directed by Michael Angelo Covino, is a romantic drama-comedy about marital mishaps, in which Johnson stars alongside Adria Arjona, Kyle Marvin, Nicholas Braun, David Castañeda, O-T Fagbenle, and Covino.
"It's nice to play characters who are deeply unhappy and messy," Johnson said of her role as Julie in the film.
"People really connect with the messiness. And it's so funny to me... I like that people are saying, 'Oh, I like this movie because it's realistic.' "
Among Johnson's upcoming film projects is Verity, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover's popular novel of the same name, directed by Michael Showalter. Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh alongside Anne Hathaway as Verity Crawford and Josh Hartnett as Jeremy Crawford.
