February 21, New Delhi – Norwegian athletes secured their 17th gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Italy, setting a record for the most gold medals won by a nation in a single edition.
Norway had previously won 16 gold medals at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
This milestone was achieved when Norwegian athlete Johannes Dale-Skjevdal successfully hit all 20 targets on the shooting range for the first time in his career, winning gold in the men's mass start at the Milano Cortina Games.
His teammate, Sturla Holm Laegreid, missed only one target and finished 10.5 seconds behind, securing a silver medal – his fifth Olympic medal.
