Shimla, March 21 Three tourists from Punjab were killed and three others were injured after their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in the Dalhousie area of Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district, police said on Saturday.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday night on the Dalhousie-Karelnu road near Gandhi Chowk when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Two passengers died on the spot, while a young woman succumbed to her injuries while being taken to a hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Simranpreet Kaur (18), Surinder (25) and Sophia (19). All the victims, including the injured, were residents of Jalandhar in Punjab.

The injured, identified as Prince (21), Sumanpreet (19) and Balbir (20), were rescued by a police team with the help of locals and district administration officials.

All three injured were shifted to Civil Hospital in Dalhousie and were undergoing treatment, the police said.
