
San Antonio (USA), April 3 Indian-born Canadian golfer Sudarshan Yellamaraju began with a remarkable three-under 69 to tie for 31st place at the Valero Texas Open here.
The leader at the end of the first day was Mark Hubbard.
Hubbard carded a seven-under 65 after starting his round on the front nine.
He made his only bogey on the fourth hole before scoring eight birdies in the round to finish at seven-under par.
Yellamaraju started his round with three consecutive birdies on the 10th, 11th, and 12th holes, before making mistakes on the 15th and 18th. He also made a birdie on the 17th hole.
On the front nine, the 24-year-old started with two birdies before making mistakes on the fifth and seventh holes, and finished the round with a birdie on the ninth.
Five players shared the second position with a score of six-under. The players in this group are Tony Finau, Davis Thompson, Andrew Putnam, Robert MacIntyre, and Steven Fisk.
Tommy Fleetwood was tied seventh alongside seven other players after carding a five-under 67 on the first day.
