Kottayam (Kerala), April 7 A farmer was found dead by hanging at the premises of a CPI office in this district of Kerala on Tuesday, police said.
The incident occurred in Thalayazham, near Vaikom, and the deceased was identified as Chellappan Pulikkasheri, a local farmer.
"He was a farmer and reportedly a local public activist. The investigation is underway. We are verifying other details," a police officer said.
According to family sources, he had previously made allegations against some local CPI leaders related to his agricultural activities.
Local people staged a protest at the party office for some time after his body was found hanging there.
The officer said that there was no protest at the moment, and an investigation was underway.
