
April 06, New Delhi — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stones for Ophthalmology, Oncology, and Joint Replacement Centres at the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) and new infrastructure at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt., as part of the 262nd Army Medical Corps Raising Day celebrations.
The new hospital infrastructure at Base Hospital, with a capacity of 998 beds, along with an additional 100 crisis expansion beds, will address the routine and emergency healthcare needs of Defence Forces personnel.
Praising the dedicated service of the Army Medical Corps across diverse terrains and during both peace and disaster, Rajnath Singh also highlighted the benefits of civil-military cooperation through nationwide medical camps.
While acknowledging the services rendered by the nurses of the Military Nursing Service, Rajnath Singh announced the recent decision to grant them the status of 'ex-servicemen' upon retirement.
Rajnath Singh also presented the Raksha Mantri trophy for the Best Hospital of AFMS to Command Hospital (Southern Command), Pune, while the award for the Second Best Hospital went to Indian Naval Hospital Ship (INHS) Asvini, Mumbai. A book titled 'Precision Protocols in Early Neuro-developmental Intervention', was also released on the occasion.
