Shimla, March 30 Hundreds of pensioners staged a protest at Chaura Maidan near the Vidhan Sabha, demanding their long-delayed payments.
The protesters were gathered under the banner of the Himachal Pradesh Pensioners Joint Executive Committee.
According to the demonstrators, pensioners who retired between January 2016 and January 2022 have not been paid gratuity and leave encashment. They also stated that they were still awaiting the 13 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) and arrears of 44 months.
They further said that medical bills worth crores had not been settled over the past three years.
"Despite serving for over 40 years, we are being denied our rightful dues. The situation is so dire that pensioners are forced to protest at such an old age," one of them said.
