Delhi Accident: Investigation Launched After Bus Crash.webp

New Delhi, March 23 A man sustained serious injuries after the driver of a local bus lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree and a pole in the Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi on Monday, an official said.

The police have detained the bus driver, Narender, and are questioning him in connection with the incident, they said.

The incident occurred near the Police Colony area when the driver of the bus, heading towards the Mangolpuri police station, lost control of the vehicle, reportedly after the front driver-side axle of the vehicle suddenly broke, he said.

"As a result, the bus became unbalanced and veered off the road before crashing into a tree and an electric pole near a footpath," the officer said.

A pedestrian, Nitin, 30, a resident of Mangolpuri, who was present near the spot at the time of the incident, sustained injuries, the officer said, adding that he was immediately admitted to a hospital.

Police said preliminary investigation suggests that the accident was caused by a mechanical failure, but a detailed inspection of the vehicle is being carried out to ascertain the exact cause.

A case is being registered, and further legal action will be taken accordingly, police said, adding that further investigation is in progress.
