Delhi Agencies to Coordinate Development Projects Through New Cell.webp

New Delhi, April 3 The Delhi government has established a dedicated special internal cell under the Urban Development Department to improve coordination among the various agencies involved in development projects, officials said on Friday.

The decision to form a 20-member cell, including officers from the Delhi Jal Board, Public Works Department, Irrigation and Flood Control, Environment and Forest, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA), was made at a meeting of a high-level committee on the rejuvenation of the Yamuna chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta last month, they said.

The cell, headed by the member secretary of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee, will be responsible for submitting draft compliance reports. It will also coordinate issues among the concerned departments and facilitate the exchange of information.

The committee will also act as a coordination committee for obtaining road-cutting permissions between departments. The committee will also coordinate the restoration of streets in unauthorized colonies and villages where sewer networks and house connections are already in place or are yet to be laid, the officials said.

All agencies will share their plans over a year, a decade, and 15 years, to ensure effective coordination and synchronization of development efforts and to avoid multiple road-cutting by combining projects.

The departments and agencies have been directed to cooperate with the cell, strictly adhere to the prescribed timelines, and submit regular progress reports, they added.
