New Delhi, March 16 The Delhi government is planning to establish a board to promote the city as a hub for tourism and film shooting, officials said on Monday.
The government is likely to set up the Tourism Board through a Bill to be presented in the Delhi Assembly's budget session, which begins on March 23, they said.
Under the proposed board, various departments and agencies of the Delhi government will work to promote the city as a hub for tourism and film shooting.
The government has taken several initiatives to promote tourism and establish Delhi as a global film shooting hub by reducing fees and working towards a single window system for granting clearances to producers from various agencies, officials said.
Last year, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had said that her government was framing a new film policy to make Delhi a film shooting destination.
Establishing a single window system for issuing multiple clearances in a time-bound manner is part of the policy, she had said.
The government also allocated a separate fund of Rs 3 crore for initiatives to develop Delhi as a film shooting hub.
Delhi is also hosting its first international film festival from March 25, which is being organized as part of the government's efforts to establish the city as a friendly location for film shootings.
