New Delhi, April 3 A 24-year-old alleged member of the Jitender Gogi gang, who was openly displaying illegal firearms on social media, has been arrested in northeastern Delhi following cyber surveillance, police said on Friday.
The accused, Pawan alias Poona, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana, is described as an active member of the gang and was operating under the direction of a criminal named Yogesh alias Tunda, he said.
Police said the arrest was a result of routine cyber patrolling on April 2, during which a social media account was flagged for displaying weapons and projecting a criminal persona.
"A team immediately initiated to track the user's digital footprint. The suspect was traced to the Alipur area, where a police team apprehended him," the officer said.
A semi-automatic pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession. Police said the accused has a criminal history involving nine previous cases, including robbery, extortion and attempted murder across Delhi.
Further investigation is underway.
