New Delhi, March 12 The Delhi government on Thursday assured people that the supply of liquefied petroleum gas, petrol, diesel, and piped natural gas in the city was normal, and urged them to refrain from panic buying or hoarding.
A statement from the Chief Minister's Office said that there was no shortage of fuel, and officials were conducting rigorous inspections to curb black-marketing and hoarding of LPG cylinders.
"The Department of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs has deployed field officers to facilitate hassle-free bookings and ensure compliance. Enforcement teams are conducting rigorous inspections to curb black-marketing and hoarding," it said.
A strict vigil was being maintained to prevent the diversion of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial use in restaurants and eateries, the statement said, adding that the government was also making necessary arrangements to ensure a regulated supply of commercial LPG in due course.
The Delhi government has also urged people to ignore "baseless rumors" about disruptions in the fuel supply chain.
Officials from Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) have confirmed that domestic PNG supply was stable, with natural gas allocation continuing to prioritize domestic and transport sector (CNG) consumers.
"Furthermore, oil marketing companies have certified that adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and domestic LPG are available, ensuring the supply chain operates seamlessly," the statement added.
The government also informed people that the minimum interval for LPG refill bookings has been revised from 21 days to 25 days.
"Despite this revision, consumers are receiving refills within an average of two to three days from the date of booking. To streamline the process, the government encourages the use of digital platforms for bookings," the statement added.
