
New Delhi, March 24 The Delhi government has proposed an outlay of Rs 7,887 crore for the urban development and housing department in the 2026-27 Budget, CM Rekha Gupta announced in her Budget speech on Tuesday.
Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented the Budget on Tuesday for the 2026-27 financial year with a total outlay of about Rs 1,03,700 crore and said the national capital is progressing rapidly with a "triple engine" government.
Highlighting regional imbalance in the national capital, CM Gupta said development of the city is "impossible without the proper development of Yamunapar", alleging neglect by previous regimes.
Gupta said the Trans-Yamuna Development Board was made functional in 2025-26 and proposed an allocation of Rs 300 crore for 2026-27 for the area's development.
A large section of Delhi's population continues to live in unauthorized colonies, which have "for years suffered neglect", Gupta said, proposing Rs 800 crore for basic amenities such as roads, drainage and lighting.
For JJ colonies, Atal canteens, slum development and community infrastructure, an allocation of Rs 634 crore has been proposed for DUSIB, CM Gupta announced in her budget speech.
Gupta also said that repair work of 2,416 flats has begun in Savda-Ghevra in North-West Delhi through DUSIB, with further plans for Dwarka, Sultanpuri and Bhalaswa.
