Kharagpur, April 4 – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta joined BJP's star campaigners for the West Bengal Assembly elections on Saturday, criticizing the Mamata Banerjee government for its failure to prevent violence against women.
"It is time to eliminate the politics of fear, corruption, and violence from West Bengal and usher in a politics of development and trust under Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Gupta said while seeking votes for the party's Kharagpur candidate, Dilip Ghosh.
She stated that it is unfortunate that violence against women is rampant in Bengal despite the state having a female Chief Minister.
"The women of Bengal have been denied their rights and respect. But this time, the voters of Bengal have made up their minds that they will earn their right to live with dignity by bringing the BJP to power," she said.
Holding the BJP's election symbol, a lotus, Chief Minister Gupta said, "The voters in Bengal have made up their minds. 'This time, Modi sarkar, and Didi will be out' (Didi will be ousted by the Modi government)."
At the start of the roadshow in Kharagpur, Gupta invoked divine blessings for the party candidate. "We are starting our campaign rally from the Ram Temple, and with the blessings of Goddess Durga, we will emerge victorious," she said, while addressing the voters from a campaign vehicle.
Asked about the Delhi government's crackdown on Bangladeshis, Gupta said, "The issue of illegal immigrants is not limited to West Bengal; it is a matter of national security."
She stated that it is a matter of the rights of the people of West Bengal. "Those outsiders who have encroached upon the facilities and rights of the residents of Bengal will not be spared," she said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Gupta had campaigned for BJP candidates in Kerala.
"The current state of Kerala is the result of years of policy paralysis, weak governance, and political opportunism. The reality is evident: UDF and LDF have pushed Kerala into a debt burden that weighs heavily on every household," she said.
"Kerala now needs a new direction, one that is committed to Seva (service), guided by Sushasan (good governance), and dedicated to Vikas (development). I urge you all to join this mission of Viksit Kerala (developed Kerala)," she said, while campaigning in Alappuzha.
