New Delhi, March 18 A 22-year-old delivery boy was allegedly assaulted by staff members of a retail chain store following a dispute over a cigarette packet in Delhi's Kirari area, police said on Wednesday.

The police have arrested four accused – Bharat Tiwari, Kuldeep alias Aditya, Suraj, and Rahman – all employees of the store, and have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said.

The victim, Love Kush, who works as a delivery boy with the store chain, alleged that the incident stemmed from a dispute over a cigarette packet that his associate took without getting it billed.

He told police that when he returned the packet to the store, he was called inside and allegedly assaulted by staff members, including the manager.

The incident took place on the intervening night of March 17 and 18 at a store located in Aman Vihar, they said.

According to the police, after receiving a PCR call regarding the incident, a team rushed to the spot.

The injured Kush had already been taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment, police said.

Further investigation is underway.
