
New Delhi, April 2 Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu felicitated 21 Traffic Prahari officers on Thursday, recognizing them as a key force multiplier in policing, for their role in enforcing road discipline, according to an official statement.
The LG also honored citizens who reported traffic violations through the Traffic Prahari app, under an incentive scheme announced in September 2024. Awards ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 were given for performance between March 2025 and February 2026, the statement read.
He was received by Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha and Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Neeraj Thakur, among other officers.
LG Sandhu flagged off a fleet of 38 scooters for women traffic personnel during a visit to the Traffic Headquarters in Todapur to improve the mobility of women personnel in congested areas and enable a quicker response to traffic congestion.
Two disaster response vehicles equipped with tools such as steel and tree cutters, floating pumps, generators, and tower lights were also launched to assist in handling road emergencies, according to the statement.
The LG reviewed the functioning of the traffic unit, including enforcement and public interface systems, and was briefed on measures for decongestion and modernization of traffic management in the capital.
