New Delhi, April 7 Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the national capital on Tuesday night as the weather office issued an orange alert.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has advised residents to be prepared for thunderstorms under the orange alert, the city experienced intermittent rainfall throughout the day.

Between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, Safdarjung and Lodhi Road recorded 3 mm of rainfall each. Palam and Ridge recorded 2.1 mm each, and Ayanagar reported 2 mm of rainfall during this period.

The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by rain in the city on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius, several degrees below normal. The city had last recorded a similar drop when the maximum temperature reached 28.4 degrees Celsius on April 1, 2023.
