
New Delhi, April 7 Thirteen people, including three children, were safely rescued after a fire broke out in a residential building in East Patel Nagar area of Delhi on Tuesday, an official of the Delhi Fire Services said.
A total of five fire units were rushed to the scene. The fire originated in around 10 electric meters installed on the ground floor of the building, which comprises ground plus three storeys.
The rescued persons – three men, seven women, and three children – were trapped on the upper floors of the building.
"All were safely evacuated by personnel from the Delhi Fire Services, with no injuries reported," the official added.
According to fire officials, a distress call about the fire in a house near a hotel in East Patel Nagar, with people trapped inside, was received at around 12:10 pm.
Thick smoke quickly spread to the upper floors, and a swift evacuation and rescue operation was launched.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. Further investigation is underway.
