Delhi High Court to Hear CBI Appeal in AAP Leaders' Corruption Case

Delhi High Court to Hear CBI Appeal in AAP Leaders' Corruption Case.webp

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has appealed to the Delhi High Court, challenging the acquittal of Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, party leader Manish Sisodia, and others in the corruption case related to the Delhi liquor policy. This move comes hours after the trial court issued its verdict.

The trial court acquitted all 23 accused in the case, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and K Kavitha. The CBI has stated that the trial court's order has overlooked several important aspects of the investigation and that the evidence has not been adequately considered. The excise policy was formulated by the Delhi Government in 2021, but it was later withdrawn following allegations of irregularities in its implementation. Lieutenant-Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena had ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the policy.
