New Delhi, March 18 The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has issued closure notices to 93 industrial units in the Hyderpur Redevelopment area, reportedly for operating without the necessary permits, officials said on Wednesday.
This move is part of an enforcement campaign to curb industrial pollution in the national capital.
The action follows verification drives by the DPCC, which found the units to be operating without the required approvals and allegedly violating pollution norms, officials said.
"The Delhi Government is ensuring 100 per cent compliance to protect the city's air," Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, while highlighting a zero-tolerance policy towards polluting industries.
Units operating in violation of air pollution norms or found operating without permission will face immediate penalties and may also be sealed, ensuring no leniency for environmental offenders, Sirsa added.
Officials said the DPCC is conducting continuous surveys and inspections across industrial areas to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and prevent unauthorized units from contributing to air pollution.
"The government is working on all fronts through technology, enforcement, and policy to keep air pollution in check, prioritizing interventions at the source level," Sirsa said.
These measures align with efforts to dismantle pollution hotspots, fostering a cleaner urban environment without compromising economic activity, the minister added.
Officials urged citizens to support the initiatives by reporting violations promptly, adding that collective vigilance will amplify effective enforcement.
