Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth approximately ₹33,500 crore in New Delhi today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi stated that the facilities and infrastructure in the national capital are being steadily strengthened and expanded.

He said that the projects launched today will strengthen infrastructure, improve connectivity, and enhance the quality of life for residents in the city. He also mentioned that the newly opened metro section will provide significant benefits to millions of residents in the capital.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that India is making significant strides in women empowerment, and women are playing a vital role in the country's development. He stated that under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the national capital is experiencing continuous progress. Mr. Modi added that India's women are contributing significantly to the nation's development across all sectors.

Prime Minister Modi also accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi of stalling development work for nearly ten years. He stated that the BJP government is now focused on addressing various challenges in Delhi. He also mentioned that the government is working on a large-scale project to clean the Yamuna River, with projects worth crores of rupees underway.

Regarding the events at President Droupadi Murmu's event in West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi accused the TMC government in West Bengal of disrespecting the President. He stated that President Murmu had gone to West Bengal to attend a tribal festival, but the TMC boycotted the event instead of honoring the President. Prime Minister Modi also emphasized that President Murmu comes from the tribal community and has consistently expressed concern for the development of the Santhal tribal society. He stated that this is not only an insult to the President but also to the Constitution and democratic traditions.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for Delhi Metro projects worth approximately ₹18,300 crore. He also inaugurated two new sections of the Delhi Metro. These include the Majlis Park-Maujpur Babarpur (Pink Line) section of approximately 12.3 km and the Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park (Magenta Line) section of approximately 9.9 km. These new sections will benefit several areas in Delhi, including Burari, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Bhalaswa, and Majlis Park.

He also laid the foundation stone for three new sections under Phase 5-A of the Delhi Metro, covering a route length of approximately 16.10 kilometers. These new sections are R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. These sections will provide direct connectivity to several important locations in the national capital and improve connectivity for residents traveling between Noida, South Delhi, and the airport.

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal stated that Metro rail has become a vital lifeline for Delhi, helping commuters save considerable travel time.

He stated that India had only approximately 245 kilometers of metro network across five cities before 2013-14. Mr. Lal highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the expansion of metro rail has significantly accelerated over the past 11 years, with a network of approximately 1,100 kilometers of metro lines and Namo Bharat RRTS. He added that with this rapid growth, India has become the third country in the world in terms of metro rail networks, after the United States and China.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu, among others, were also present at the event. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi visited General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-5 quarters in Sarojini Nagar in New Delhi and handed over the keys to the women allottees. He also interacted with the Women Shram Jeevi workers.

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple projects worth ₹15,200 crore under the GPRA redevelopment plan. These projects, spread across key locations such as Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Sriniwaspuri, are part of the government's ambitious program to modernize GPRA colonies and create world-class infrastructure for government employees and administrative offices. These projects have been redeveloped using an innovative, self-sustainable financial model that ensures redevelopment without burdening the public exchequer.

Under this model, the government is developing and monetizing a portion of the project area for commercial and residential use to finance the entire project. The revenue generated from this is being used to fund the redevelopment of modern government housing, supporting infrastructure, and public facilities. This redevelopment plan will provide over 9,350 modern flats for government employees, along with approximately 48 lakh square feet of office space. This will significantly enhance administrative efficiency while also generating monetization potential.
