New Delhi, March 20 Delhi Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu offered a floral chaddar at the shrine of Sufi saint Bakhtiyar Kaki in Mehrauli on Friday and prayed for the country's progress and well-being.
As part of the "Phool Walon ki Sair" (walk of florists), a three-day festival dedicated to Hindu-Muslim unity, people offer floral chaddars at the Bakhtiyar's dargah and the Yogmaya temple in Mehrauli.
"At the revered Phool Walon ki Sair, I offered a floral chaddar at the sacred dargah of Khwaja Bakhtiyar Kaki. I prayed for India's progress, peace, and well-being," the Delhi lieutenant governor said on X.
Sandhu celebrated the festival at the Yogmaya temple and the dargah. He said this unique festival reflects Delhi's rich composite culture and shared heritage.
"The centuries-old tradition of Phool Walon ki Sair continues to thrive with devotion and enthusiasm," he said in the post.
Last year, the festival was delayed after failing to obtain the necessary approval from authorities. It was later allowed after the intervention of the then Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.
