Delhi Meeting Focuses on Part II of Union-State Report.webp

Chennai, February 23 The high-level committee on Union-State relations, headed by Justice Kurian Joseph, met in Delhi to discuss Part II of the report, as well as the possibility of publishing Hindi and other Indian language versions of the first part of the report, which was presented in the Assembly last week.

The committee met in New Delhi on February 22 to discuss Part II of its report (which will be submitted to the government), according to a press release.

The meeting was attended by the committee's chairman and former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Kurian Joseph, and members: K Ashok Vardhan Shetty, former Vice Chancellor of the Indian Maritime University, Chennai, and M Naganathan, former Vice Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Planning Commission.

"The committee discussed various topics to be included in Part II of its report, which covers 10 chapters. Part I of the committee's report, in Tamil and English, was presented in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on February 16," the press release stated.

Part I of the report covered ten key topics, ranging from language policy to the Governor, education, health, delimitation, elections, and GST, among others.

Access to the Tamil version of the report has been made "open" to the public to disseminate the committee's recommendations. The state government has proposed to publish translations of Part I of the report in ten major Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Assamese.
