New Delhi, March 27 Delhi Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh alleged on Friday that the opposition deliberately avoided key proceedings of the Delhi Assembly's budget session to avoid discussions on the "Sheeshmahal" matter and reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

In a statement, he said the opposition's absence during important discussions, including the tabling of CAG reports, reflected a lack of responsibility and undermined the democratic process.

Singh, the minister for health and transport, claimed that the absence appeared intentional, as certain issues that might have emerged during the proceedings could have put the opposition in a difficult position.

"Transparency and accountability remain central to the government's functioning, and the facts presented in the House will continue to reach the public domain," the minister said.

Singh said the 2026-27 budget has made significant allocations for the health and transport sectors. He said Rs 13,034 crore has been earmarked for healthcare and Rs 12,613 crore for transport.

The minister added that the health sector will see investments in strengthening public health infrastructure, completion of pending hospital projects, expansion of medical education, and the development of integrated healthcare facilities.

On the transport front, he said efforts towards green mobility will be accelerated, including the expansion of electric buses, continued metro investments, and the rollout of the Delhi EV Policy 2.0.

Singh also thanked Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, saying the budget reflects a vision for inclusive development, improved service delivery, and enhanced quality of life for residents.

"We are also committed to bringing the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 into the public domain soon to further strengthen sustainable mobility in the capital," Singh said.
