New Delhi, March 10 Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh inaugurated 48 new tipper trucks at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi headquarters on Tuesday to improve the collection and transportation of horticultural waste across the capital.

The trucks, powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), will be used to collect green waste from municipal parks and transport it to designated green waste centers. Officials said the vehicles are equipped with hydraulic tipping systems that will expedite loading and unloading.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the mayor said the addition of trucks would improve the efficiency of horticultural waste management across all zones of the city.

"With their induction, the horticulture department's fleet for waste collection will increase to 74 vehicles, reducing manual effort and improving operational speed," the mayor said.

The vehicles were purchased with funding from the Union government under the Urban Development Fund (UDF). According to officials, they meet the latest BS-VI emission standards and have undergone quality checks by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

The mayor said the civic body is working with the Delhi government to strengthen civic services and improve sanitation and green waste management in the city.
