Delhi Police Arrests Kingpin of House Burglary Gang.webp

New Delhi, April 1 The Delhi Police have arrested a proclaimed offender and an alleged kingpin of the Mukhiya gang, involved in meticulously planned house burglaries across multiple states, an official said on Wednesday.

The accused, Raju Mukhiya (38), a native of Madhubani in Bihar, was apprehended from the Nangli area in Dwarka, he said.

Police said Mukhiya was wanted in at least four criminal cases registered in Delhi and Haryana and had been declared a proclaimed offender in three of them after repeatedly evading court proceedings despite securing bail.

"Mukhiya headed a well-organized gang that executed thefts by planting members as domestic helps in affluent households. After gaining the trust of residents, these insiders would gather information about valuables and household routines before facilitating robberies when the premises were vulnerable," a senior police officer said.

The arrest was made on a tip-off, following which a team laid a trap and nabbed the accused.

Police said cases against him include those registered at Rajouri Garden and Kalkaji police stations in Delhi, as well as DLF Phase-II police station in Gurugram.

"In one of the cases, the gang allegedly decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 25–30 lakh from a house in Rajouri Garden after being employed as domestic workers. In another incident in Gurugram, valuables worth around Rs 1 crore were stolen after the victim was allegedly drugged," the officer said.

During interrogation, Mukhiya revealed he had built a network of domestic workers across states to facilitate such crimes, police said, adding further investigation is underway to identify other associates and link cases.
