Delhi & Prasar Bharati Partner to Boost Media Hub.webp

New Delhi, March 27 The Delhi government signed a memorandum of understanding with Prasar Bharati on Friday to develop the national capital as a major hub for the media and entertainment industry.

The agreement was signed between the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) and Prasar Bharati at the Bharat Mandapam, on the sidelines of the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD), according to an official statement.

Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said the initiative aims to position Delhi as a preferred destination for investors, producers, and creative professionals by leveraging its talent pool, technical expertise, and creative ecosystem.

Mishra said the project envisions the development of a state-of-the-art integrated film, television, and media hub, bringing together film production, television, and animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC) on a single platform.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the initiative would strengthen the creative economy and align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision.

The statement said the project will include the development of modern studios, post-production facilities, and AVGC hubs, along with a focus on skill development, training, and innovation.

It said the initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for the youth and support the growth of Delhi’s media and entertainment sector.

A joint coordination committee comprising representatives from both sides will be set up to oversee the planning, financing, and implementation of the project, it said.

Presenting the government’s broader vision, Mishra said a film policy is being proposed, offering subsidies for shoots in the city and a focus on new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
