New Delhi, March 19 Delhi residents may soon be able to access approximately 65 Delhi government services, such as caste and income certificates, and driving licenses, through a WhatsApp governance initiative that is likely to be launched next month, officials said on Thursday.
The services available through the app will be gradually expanded after its launch, which is expected after the Budget session, a senior government official said.
The Delhi Assembly's Budget session will be held from March 23 to March 25.
The initiative aims to provide seamless access to government services via WhatsApp, allowing users to submit applications, receive notifications, and obtain certificates through AI-enabled chatbots and WhatsApp Dynamic Flows, officials said.
The project involves making various government services available online, including the issuance of important documents like birth and caste certificates, through WhatsApp in a faceless manner, they said.
It will ensure a simple, user-friendly, and 24×7 digital governance interface, the officials said.
The digital governance model will help people access a range of services without having to visit the offices of the concerned departments, by providing real-time updates and efficient service delivery within a specified timeframe, they said.
Nearly 65 services available online through the government's e-district portal, covering revenue, transport, social welfare, and other departments, will also be accessible via WhatsApp, they said.
The Information Technology (IT) Department of the Delhi government, which is working on the project, will also develop a dashboard for real-time monitoring and management of applications and their time-bound disposal, they added.
