New Delhi, April 7 The CISF announced on Tuesday that it has formally taken over the security of the RRTS 'Namo Bharat' corridor and its stations in Delhi, with the induction of approximately 250 personnel.

The central force stated that its personnel, including those armed, will secure three stations of this network in the national capital – Anand Vihar, Ashok Nagar, and Sarai Kale Khan.

Senior officials from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) attended the event held at the Ashok Nagar station, the force said in a statement.

CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan said the induction of the force for the RRTS 'Namo Bharat' network represents a "significant" step in securing India's next-generation transport infrastructure, according to the statement.

A total of 251 CISF personnel will be deployed for RRTS security duties, it said.

The Delhi section is part of Phase 1 of the RRTS, which includes 22 stations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Stations located in the neighbouring state will be guarded by the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Security Force (UPISF), as per the statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Namo Bharat' train that runs on the 82-kilometre Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor in February.
