
New Delhi, March 25 The Delhi transport department has sought details of the tourist bus accident in Karol Bagh that occurred early Wednesday and resulted in the death of two passengers, with several others injured.
"We have sought a report on the matter; further action will be taken after the report from all concerned is received," a senior transport official said.
A speeding tourist bus from Jaipur overturned while taking a sharp turn near Hanuman Mandir in Karol Bagh's Jhandewalan area here early Wednesday, leading to the death of two passengers and injury to 23 others, police said.
A police officer who was present at the accident site said the bus lost control while negotiating a turn at a roundabout near the Hanuman Mandir, before overturning.
According to officials, the transport department guidelines for tourist buses mandate pick-up and drop-off at designated areas, mainly inter-state bus terminals across the city.
The department grants licenses to tourist transport operators regarding bus-body guidelines and tourist routes under the Delhi Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 1993.
The State Transport Authority, which includes officials from the traffic police, also works on the enforcement of motor vehicle rules.
