New Delhi, March 30 Construction work on the remaining seven buildings of the Common Central Secretariat (CCS) will be completed by April 2028, while one of them is to be built by September of this year, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Monday.

The government plans to construct a total of ten buildings of CCS to house ministries' offices under its ambitious Central Vista Redevelopment Plan. Three buildings, Kartavya Bhavans 1, 2, and 3, have already been built.

According to a written reply to a question by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said that in parallel, extensive conservation and retrofitting works are underway for the historic North and South Block buildings.

The North Block, which will house the 'Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum', is slated for completion by August 2027. Similar work on the South Block building is expected to be finished by March 2028.

The minister stated that CCS 10 is likely to be completed in September of this year, while construction of CCS buildings 6 and 7 is scheduled for completion by March 2027. CCS 8 and 9 are expected to be ready by December 2027.

The final phase involving CCS buildings 4 and 5 will conclude by April 2028.

Sahu also responded to another question about pollution mitigation measures at the construction sites under the Central Vista Redevelopment project.

"Adequate pollution mitigation measures such as dust suppression nets, water sprinklers, covering of construction debris, covered material transportation, disposal of debris/C&D waste to designated processing plant are being taken in all Central Vista Redevelopment Projects," he said.

The minister said that besides that, a 12-metre-high dust screen barricade has been installed in all the projects.

According to him, roads in the vicinity are regularly being cleaned and sprinkled with water and construction debris is being removed regularly in adequately covered trucks.

Disposal of all construction & demolition waste generated from the construction site to the approved waste recycle plant is being done, he added.
