
New Delhi, March 21 A diverse collection of international and regional cinema, including films in Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Marathi, and other languages, will be showcased at Delhi's first International Film Festival, which will be held from March 25.
Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said the festival will feature films representing various Indian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Haryanvi, Bengali, and those from the North-East, along with international entries.
He said over 2,000 entries have been received from around the world, out of which 140 films have been selected for screening during the festival.
Mishra said the International Film Festival, Delhi (IFFD) 2026 will be organized from March 25 to 31 at Bharat Mandapam by the Delhi government and its tourism department.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the festival aims to promote creativity, create opportunities, and place Delhi on the global cultural map, according to a statement.
Mishra said the government plans to make the festival an annual event to strengthen Delhi's position as a hub for art, culture, and cinema.
He said the initiative is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of promoting the "orange economy" and the creators' ecosystem by providing a global platform to emerging talent.
Mishra added that the festival will also showcase Delhi's infrastructure for hosting international events and help establish the city as a preferred destination for film shooting.
