February 22, New Delhi: Denmark's defense minister stated on Sunday that Greenland does not require medical assistance from other countries, following Donald Trump's claim that he was sending a hospital ship to the territory.
Defense Minister Troels Poulsen stated that Greenland's healthcare system is sufficient to meet the needs of its population. His remarks followed Trump's post on Truth Social that the United States would send "a great hospital boat to Greenland to take care of the many people who are sick."
Trump has previously stated that the US must control Greenland to safeguard its security interests, though he later softened earlier threats after reaching a "framework" understanding with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to expand US influence.
