Thane, February 27 A 26-year-old woman, who was deeply depressed after repeatedly failing to pass police recruitment exams, allegedly committed suicide at her home in Ambernath, in the Thane district, according to an official on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Pratiksha Rane, a resident of Swaminagar in Ambernath (West), was found dead on February 26.
Rane had been diligently preparing for a career in the police force for several years, according to Syed Shabbir, a senior inspector at the Ambernath West police station.
"She had a strong desire to join the force and provide a better life for her parents. However, continuous setbacks in the recruitment process led her to a state of severe depression," he added.
In her suicide note, she apologized to her parents for being unable to "give you the life I wanted to give you after failing to secure a job."
A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigation is underway, Shabbir said.
