Araria/Kishanganj, March 11 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched several development projects and schemes worth around Rs 781 crore in the Araria and Kishanganj districts on Wednesday during his ongoing "Samridhi Yatra," officials said.

In Araria, the CM launched 68 schemes and projects worth Rs 546 crore. This included the inauguration of 60 schemes worth Rs 157 crore and laying the foundation stone for six schemes valued at Rs 331 crore. Two other schemes worth Rs 58 crore were also inaugurated, according to a statement by the Chief Minister's Office.

Kumar also inaugurated the construction of residential and non-residential buildings at the Araria Police lines.

He reviewed ongoing projects, including the Araria–Kursi Katta–Kuwari Sikti road and the construction of a flyover near Subhash Chowk on the Katihar–Jogbani railway section between Forbesganj and Bathnaha stations, directing officials to expedite the works.

During his visit, the CM interacted with ASHA and anganwadi workers, beneficiaries of the Old Age Pension Scheme, girl students under the Bicycle Scheme, and participants of the Akshar Aanchal and Student Credit Card schemes.

"During the inspection, the CM told beneficiaries that the government is working for the welfare of everyone and striving to help all sections of society," it said.

Later in the day, the CM launched 122 schemes worth Rs 235 crore in Kishanganj district during his yatra. He inaugurated 49 schemes and projects worth Rs 102 crore and laid the foundation stone for 73 schemes worth Rs 133 crore.

The CM inspected the under-construction Thakurganj Bypass Road (from Kathaldangi to Dharmakanta Chowk) under Thakurganj block.

"During inspection, Kumar directed officials to ensure that the construction of Thakurganj bypass is completed within the stipulated time," the statement said.

Others present on the occasion included Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Industries and Road Construction Minister Dilip Jaiswal, among others.
