
Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu stated that the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia and has taken steps to ensure the safety of civil aviation operations. Responding during the question hour in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said that the DGCA has immediately engaged with airlines operating in the region and has issued necessary circulars to ensure that flights only operate when 100 percent safety can be guaranteed.
The Minister informed that the aviation regulator has held multiple meetings with airlines to review safety measures for flights operating to airports in West Asia. He informed that the airlines have also issued special travel advisories to passengers, asking them to verify the status of their flights and connections to avoid confusion in case of cancellations or changes. He informed the House that the Ministry of Civil Aviation is working closely with airlines to facilitate safe travel for passengers between West Asia and India.
The minister also noted that around 90,000 passengers have travelled between India and West Asian destinations in the past week alone, indicating that operations are continuing with necessary precautions. Responding to the question regarding the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, the Minister said that the investigation is progressing at a good pace and expressed confidence that the final report on the crash will be released after the completion of the investigation.
