
Chennai, March 21 Young medical professionals should contribute to diabetes research, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has said.
The Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, was presented with the MV Lifetime Achievement award by the MV Hospital for Diabetes for his contributions to diabetes research, during the inauguration of the three-day national conference 'MVCON 2026', organized by the hospital here.
Workshops, practical training in debridement, and advanced wound care techniques, along with other events, were held as part of the conference, a press release said.
The minister, on Friday, said that he felt deeply indebted to Tamil Nadu and was extremely honored to receive the MV Lifetime Achievement Award 2026, according to the release.
The minister, on the occasion, encouraged young professionals to contribute to advancing diabetes research and patient care, the release said.
Over 1,000 people, including doctors and healthcare professionals, researchers in diabetes care, and specialists in diabetic foot and wound management, attended the conference.
MV Hospital for Diabetes Chief Executive Officer Dr Viswanathan Vishnu Vijay said, "MVCON 2026 marks the first edition of MV's annual scientific update. It has been conceptualized as a multidisciplinary platform that reflects the evolving nature of diabetes care."
"By bringing together different specialities, we aim to improve outcomes, particularly in preventing complications such as diabetic foot, which require coordinated and timely intervention," he added.
