Digital India Initiative: Enhanced Connectivity for Jammu Railway Passengers.webp

In a significant step towards realizing the vision of a Digital India, the Jammu Railway Division of Northern Railways has enhanced its digital infrastructure, ensuring high-speed internet connectivity and seamless cashless transactions for passengers. Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the division is prioritizing passenger convenience by fully activating the 'Rail Wire' high-speed Wi-Fi service 24/7 at all major railway stations. This robust connectivity is not only aiding passengers from other states in staying connected but is also serving as the backbone for the division's cashless economy initiative. As part of a comprehensive digital strategy, the division is actively promoting multiple modes of digital payments. Commuters are being encouraged to use UPI, QR codes, and debit/credit cards at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters, parcel offices, and food stalls to facilitate smooth and contactless transactions. Furthermore, in an effort to reduce queues and modernize the travel experience, the Railways is urging passengers, local residents, and even educational institutions to adopt the 'Rail One' App. This super-app aims to bring various passenger services onto a single digital platform. Speaking about the initiatives, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, said that the Jammu Division is fully committed to providing a modern, secure, and technology-friendly travel experience. He said our goal is to empower passengers through their smartphones, enabling easy access to information and digital payments, thereby reducing long queues at ticket counters.
