
Diphu, March 24 Over 150 people fell ill after attending a wedding ceremony in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, an official said on Tuesday.
Two seriously ill individuals have been admitted to the Diphu Medical College and Hospital, while the others were receiving treatment at the local government health facility, he said.
Most of the guests who attended the wedding in Pator Timung village in the Bokoliaghat area on Monday started complaining of stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting in the evening.
"More than 150 people, including children, who had lunch at the wedding ceremony, showed these symptoms when they were taken to the Bokoliaghat primary health center on Monday evening," he said.
"Two of the seriously ill individuals, including a child, were referred to the Diphu Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment," the official said.
The exact cause of the illness is yet to be determined, although food poisoning is suspected, he added.
