External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held a detailed conversation with Iran's Foreign Minister, Syed Abbas Araghchi, last evening regarding the latest developments in the ongoing conflict in West Asia. In a social media post, Dr. Jaishankar stated that they agreed to maintain communication. This was their third telephone conversation since the start of the conflict between Iran and the US-Israel joint forces last month.

Dr. Jaishankar also spoke to his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, discussing the situation in West Asia. He said he had a productive conversation with Mr. Cho Hyun, and they discussed advancing their bilateral agenda and the situation in West Asia, including its energy implications.

Mr. Cho Hyun posted on social media that they discussed the situation in West Asia, which is having a significant impact on global security and the economy, and agreed to maintain close communication on measures to ensure the safety of Indian and South Korean nationals as the situation evolves. He expressed hope that high-level exchanges between the two sides this year would elevate bilateral relations to a new level. He stated that Dr. Jaishankar agreed that the two sides should work together to expand strategic economic cooperation.
