Mumbai, March 10 – Disha Jha, the daughter of award-winning filmmaker Prakash Jha, has recounted the moment she was deeply impressed by her father's commanding presence on a film set.
Disha spoke with IANS at her father's office in the Andheri area of Mumbai on Tuesday, and shared that it was on the set of the political drama 'Raajneeti' that she witnessed her father controlling a crew of 10,000 people.
Disha entered the film industry when she worked as a costume assistant in 'Raajneeti', which was directed by her father.
Speaking about her memories from 'Raajneeti', she said, "In 'Raajneeti', I was a costume assistant. So, I wasn't in the spotlight, that was my first film. So, there were many things that were new to me on the set. But it was amazing, I mean, I hadn't seen him like that on the set before because when 'Gangaajal' was being made, I was still in school. So, that was the first time I saw him in command."
She further added, "There were around 10,000 people, and he would address them, and everyone would listen to him patiently. Whatever he said, they would listen to him. If he said, 'Sit,' they would sit. So, yeah, that's when I realized, 'Oh my God.' It was incredible."
She also shared what it has been like growing up under her father's guidance. For her, the journey has been a positive one, given her father's experience and clarity of thought in the film industry.
She said, "He has always been there for me at every stage. So, I know that I have someone to rely on. So, I'm not as nervous, but I know that the real world can be a little daunting."
"You do feel like what if you make a mistake, but I think if you know what you're doing, if you have a clear vision of what you want to achieve, then it becomes easier," she added.
