March 1, Kohima: S.I. Aren, a progressive farmer from the Longkhum village in the Mokokchung district, was awarded the 'IARI Innovative Farmer Award 2026' during the concluding ceremony of the 2026 Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela in New Delhi.
The event was organized by ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) on February 27.
The award recognizes Mr. Aren's contribution to ecological sustainability through his practices of a diversified farming system based on hill agriculture, which integrates field crops, horticulture, and apiculture.
