
Chennai, March 3 Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK allocated one seat in the Rajya Sabha to its ally, DMDK, and announced that the number of Assembly seats to be allocated to it would be made public later after further discussions.
DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth will announce the candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections, DMDK leader LK Sudhish told reporters here after signing the electoral agreement with the DMK.
A statement from the DMK said that one seat in the Rajya Sabha was allocated to DMDK following discussions between DMK President MK Stalin and DMDK treasurer LK Sudhish.
It was also decided that the number of Assembly seats to be allocated to DMDK would be determined after discussions between the two parties, it added.
Leaders from both the DMK and DMDK were present when the electoral agreement was signed by Stalin and Sudhish.
Out of the 6 Rajya Sabha seats from Tamil Nadu, the DMK could elect 4, while the main opposition AIADMK secured 2.
