DMK Accused of Spreading False News About TVK.webp

Chennai, March 16 The TVK on Monday dismissed claims of talks with the AIADMK-BJP to form an alliance for the Assembly polls as "false" and alleged that the ruling DMK was behind the rumors to create confusion.

CTR Nirmal Kumar, the party's deputy general secretary, said that false news was being disseminated by a few media outlets and social media handles, driven by a desire for political gain.

Specifically, claims of talks for an alliance between the TVK and the BJP-AIADMK, and parties led by leaders VK Sasikala and S Ramadoss, are completely contrary to the truth, Kumar said in a statement.

"We want to make it clear that no talks have taken place with any specific parties or political leaders at any level," he said.

This same "tactic of spreading false news" has been used to link the TVK with various political parties, including the Congress, and it is widely known that such claims are entirely untrue.

Nevertheless, the TVK leader alleged that "DMK members" were spreading such "baseless news" to continuously create confusion among the public and workers.

"Truth will ultimately prevail...responsible media outlets and social media users, please do not share rumors," he said, and urged everyone to verify the authenticity of claims before circulating them.

On March 15, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said that neither his party nor its allies had held talks with the actor-politician Vijay-led TVK for the April 23 Assembly polls.

Speaking to reporters at an Iftar event held by the party here on Sunday, Palaniswami, flanked by Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthran and AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran, when asked if he wished the TVK to be part of the AIADMK-led NDA, said: "I have said this before. So far, AIADMK and leaders of its alliance parties have not held talks with the party that you have mentioned (in order to form an alliance for the Assembly polls)."

Palaniswami's comments on Sunday are the third such assertion, and he had on March 11 and 14 ruled out the possibility of an alliance with the TVK and dismissed it as mere media speculation.
