DMK-Congress Seat Dispute Highlights Power Dynamics

DMK-Congress Seat Dispute Highlights Power Dynamics.webp

Erode (Tamil Nadu), March 8 In response to Chief Minister M K Stalin, AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday alleged that the ruling DMK is "subservient" to its ally, the Congress party.

Addressing a rally here in Perunthurai, Palaniswami said that the Congress and DMK had been engaged in a dispute for about 20 days over seat allocation and related issues.

He alleged that the Congress party eventually intimidated the DMK and secured 28 seats for the upcoming Assembly elections in April-May this year.

He claimed that people remember that even when DMK leader M Karunanidhi was alive, the Congress party intimidated and made the DMK "subservient" to it, and forged an alliance with it. This was achieved by conducting "surveillance" while seat-sharing talks were ongoing, he claimed.

However, his party, the AIADMK, is an independent party that has chosen to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on its own.

Now, in order to remove the DMK from power, his party has formed an alliance, which is robust, transparent, and cordial, unlike the DMK-led alliance, he said.
